Busy!

I started painting 6 months ago, inspired by a friend who was overhauling her furniture. Most of my house is a modge podge of random furniture given to us or we've purchased cheap. I've never been overly concerned about the look of my house because, I couldn't afford to be. The thought never crossed my mind to paint...
Now I can't stop (I won't stop!) ha ha
I have people asking me to paint their dressers, piano and tables.
Hindsight I should have documented my past work, it would help with future work. I'm going to backtrack my past work and for my own sanity, catalogue the process.
Below is one of my favorite pieces of furniture. It used to be a changing table, revamped by a more creative person than myself. The paint job on it was horrendous and needed more attention than I'd initially planned to invest.
*Lemon Pearl Lane paint in Antique Cotton
*Lamp (used to be a horrible bronze) Annie Sloan Paint in duck egg
*Hook shelf was made from an antique dresser drawer
(finished with Annie Sloan clear wax)

The haunted doors

These doors have the coolest story. For now I'll just share a picture and let you wonder what's in store. After lots of sanding, someone reminded me I should be careful about lead paint.
Expletive.
I moved onto paint stripper and I'll attack with a wire brush tomorrow. It's 2am and I should go to bed.

Table Take 2

I got this idea from a blog I found. I was so irked at my previous attempt to refinish the table, I took my time and did my research. I followed everything she did without any shortcuts. Tadaaaaa! I'm in love. This table started out being cherry wood red, was then painted in Graphite by AS. I'd like to try to forget the mistakes I made with this table. I'm just glad it turned out like it did.
Table overall color painted with Behr paint mixed with magic-BB Frosch chalk paint powder
Polished Pearl and Provence by AS
Finished with AS clear wax

Trying something new

I decided it was probably time to document some of my crazy- I have had a fair amount of success with my new found obsession but also some, throw my brush, kick the paint can, kind of failures.
Should I admit I embarked on my painting journey with the family
table.. I did. (I finally decided to try that one again... Yesterday. The table is still out of commission and we ate dinner on the floor.. Read scriptures on the floor.. You get the picture.
Check it out.
